"Exists" movie revives the fear people have of the Sasquatch, which they more commonly refer to as the Bigfoot. Eduardo Sanchez, the director of "The Blair Witch Project" fame, again made use of the found-footage approach, which he and his crew popularized in the aforementioned movie back in 1999.
Based on the scenes in the trailer on YouTube, and the gist that Upcoming Horror Movies provided, the story of "Exists" movie follows a group of friends who travel to the Texas Big Thicket for a summer camping vacation.
However, en route to the woods, they encountered a strange accident that set off the series of terrifying events that turned what-should-have-been-a-relaxing-summer-escapade into a nightmare.
Following the accident, an urban legend proves its existence to the vacationers as it goes on a murderous rampage, seeking revenge. Armed with handycams, the group chronicles their terrifying ordeal.
Slash Film revealed that Sanchez made the found-footage approach famous when he did "The Blair Witch Project," but he was not the one who pioneered it. Although his preferred method and setting for "Exists" movie resembles those he used in his 1999 hit film, his focusing on the Bigfoot subject makes it unique.
Upcoming Horror Movies shared Sanchez's thoughts on his latest film:
"This movie harkens back to the earlier and really creepy Bigfoot films that scared me as a child like 'The Legend of Boggy Creek.' Everything we've seen of Bigfoot has been from the first-person view such as the Patterson film when you see him moving through the woods. That's why this particular subject is ideal to shoot from the found footage perspective."
Slash Film reported that six characters comprise the people in the horror-thriller film. Five of them make up the group of young vacationers that include Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn and Denise Williamson. Behind the vengeful Sasquatch's mask is Brian Steele.
This new Bigfoot movie stomps its way to theaters on October 24, 2014.
