Spider-Man Release Date; The Amazing Spider-Man 3 Set In 2018 As Sinister Six Release Date Confirmed on 2016! Will Sony's Plan Save The Franchise?

The Amazing Spider-Man film franchise is still relatively financially strong, but it's had a roller coaster ride, creatively speaking. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had mixed criticisms in May, making Sony decide to change their plans for the cinematic universe for the Wall-Crawler. The film third installment was postponed three years from now, the Sinister Six, villain ensemble was bumped to November 2016 and Sony may be throwing out the Venom spin-off. There have even been rumors that Actor Andrew Garfield will be changes as Peter Parker in the said Sinister Six.

Whatever is true, it's obvious that Sony is struggling to recover, but now they may have a film project in the works that will not only keep the franchise, but place them in the middle of the spotlight.

It was stated that Sony releasing another female-led spin-off in 2016, but based on to Badass Digest, this movie may be providing more than just one female protagonist. Tentatively the project Glass Ceiling would get together, "Spidey characters, all the female." This plan isn't established in the stone yet, it's one of the many concepts that Sony has been thinking about with no all-women Spider-Man team in comic series.

Being one of the largest supporting casts in all of comic books, Spider-Man and women got a large part of it. There are love interests like Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy, former classmates like Liz Allan and Aunt May, the list continues. On the other hand, crime/superpowered fighting side of things, there are not many characters for Sony to choose from. The first that comes to mind is Black Cat, a.k.a Felicia Hardy, she is both a villain and a romantic partner, an acrobatic burglar and a love interest of Spider-Man. Just like Catwoman to Batman. Felicia was in the Amazing Spider-Man 2.
