Dan Henderson's next fight is seen to take place early next year, as "Hendo" was reported be clamoring to make a UFC return in January. The 44-year old mixed martial arts veteran is also eyeing to drop down from light heavyweight to middleweight.

In a report during Wednesday's edition of FOX Sports' UFC Tonight, fighters Daniel Cormier, Kenny Florian and journalist Ariel Helwani weighed in on the possible situations regarding Dan Henderson's next fight.

According to Helwani, Henderson was adamant to fight as early as January, noting that "Hendo" is not mindful about when it will be, despite the UFC's tight schedule for the said month.

"He said he'd like to fight close to home in California," Helwani said. "He is probably going to fight at 185. His last fight was at 205, but he came in under."

"There are just less big guys at 185, so he's leaning towards moving down," he added.

Current number one title contender Daniel Cormier, who last fought and defeated Henderson in May at UFC 173, also spoke about the possibilities of Dan Henderson's next fight.

"I would match-up Dan Henderson vs. Gegard Mousasi," Cormier said. "It's actually amazing that those guys didn't cross paths when they were both in Strikeforce."

Cormier also noted that Henderson was indeed at his best when he was fighting at middleweight. Since his professional debut in 1997, "Hendo" was see-sawing back and forth from both weight classes, but he has achieved more success as a middleweight.

His best performances were during the early 2000s, when he reigned over PRIDE FC's middleweight division.

"Whenever we were fighting (at light heavyweight), he just felt small," Cormier furthered about Henderson. "He weighed in at 199 on the scale, so there's no telling what he actually weighed whenever he was in training camp. He could have been smaller than that."
