"Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral" movie has been in development hell for more than seven years now, and the reason behind it: financial issues. However, the much-anticipated third sequel following the Creeper's story is supposed to yield a surprise ending - and this would allegedly precede a potential TV series.

Justin Long was the one who revealed this reason behind the film's inability to move forward. His exact quote, which he gave as a response to the AMA crowd, as featured on Dread Central said:

"There s a script (it's called 'Jeepers Creepers: Cathedral'). Gina plays the lead in it. It's been tough getting it off the ground, financially, unfortunately. According to Victor, I do get my hands on a flashback."

Should filming push through, Victor Salva would take on the director's chair once more aside from taking charge of penning the story. The news about the "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral" movie languishing came from him. His exact words, as reported in Upcoming Horror Movies, read:

"It has come close several times to going before cameras, and I hope someone sees the wisdom in shooting this, the third and final Creeper tale, I still can't tell you what the fate of this third film will be."

Salva also dished out the possibility of the film's having a TV series following the release of "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral" movie. He said that the film would end with an intentional cliffhanger. He said that this would precede one season comprised of 13 episodes for a TV series.

Upcoming Horror Movies went on to share that before anyone finally decided on the current title, it was originally entitled "Jeepers Creepers 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us." Salva has mentioned that the producers are on the verge of reaching an agreement regarding the financing of the third franchise.

Should everything go as plannednad financial issues are resolved, production would follow suit. With that the film would then be back on the big screen to follow up on the tale of Trish (Gina Phillips), who first ran into the creeper with her brother Darry en route to their home during their college break.
