"The Lego Movie 2" was originally slated for a 2017 release. But new reports suggest that the second movie will be pushed back to a later date because of another awesome Lego Movie.

Hero Complex reported that the "Lego Batman Movie" will take the original 2017 launch of "The Lego Movie 2." That means, the sequel (or prequel, more details later) will be given a 2018 premiere.

In addition to the Lego movies in the works, Warner Bros. is definitely working on more Lego video games. After "Lego Batman," "Lego Star Wars" and "Lego Hobbit" made than more than $2B, the company thought it would be a good decision to keep doing more of these video games in the future.

Meanwhile, "The Lego Movie 2" news reveal that the sequel has been already considered way before the first film came out. According to Cinema Blend, "This sequel, Lego Movie 2 was planned even before the first film was released, so sure was Warner Bros. of its success. As it turns out, they were right. The original Lego Movie was a massive critical and financial success, making The Lego Movie 2 an easy commitment."

The report went on to reveal that the first movie's directors, Phil Lord and Chis Miller, will not be coming back to direct. Instead, they've hired animation co-director Chris McKay to helm the sequel so that they can concentrate on writing the story for the sequel.

Cast members from the first film are expected to reprise their roles according to some "The Lego Movie 2" rumors. In an interview with Metro, "The Lego Movie" star Chris Pratt shared his thoughts about returning for the sequel.

"I don't know anything. I hope I'm back. I loved working with Chris and Phil and I hope Emmett is crucial to the story," he said.

"It could be about a different character, it's not like other cartoons in that way. I hope that Emmett isn't disposable, he was such a great big part of that movie."
