The world waits for the release of the action-filled film G.I Joe 3. Well, that may not be true at all, thinking that neither the first two installments of the franchise really scored big points with either casual moviegoers or hardcore fans. On the other hand, back during the summer, when Transformer: Age of Extinction hit cinemas, Lorenzo di Bonaventura guaranteed fans, that the plan for the third G.I Joe was one that would make fans happy, as well as extending the role of Roadblock played by Dwayne Johnson in the Franchise.
After the planning of the third film, Shooter and Devil's Advocate writer Jonathan Lemkin was chosen to scribe the script. Presumming that he will execute the plan better, there are also speculations that the G.I. Joe 3 will have a new director.
Schmoe's Know learned from the grapevine that director Martin Campbell of Casino Royale, Green Lantern and Goldeneye is in early stages of negotiations to direct G.I Joe 3. Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) and Jon M.Chu (Step Up 2&3) directed the two films. This means the producers are really searching to change things stylistically, if they are having Campbell as the new director.
Sommers made G.I. Joe into a tech-heavy action/comedy, over the top film that almost resembled the cartoon series fans are used to. Chu sought to ground things off with a more conventional military action flick, but still took it on a higher level with scenes like cartoonish ninja ziplines on the frozen mountains. Their respective good points, either of these G.I. Joe versions were what fans would call highly-enjoyable or spot-on.
Going back to the main issue of this entire film franchise, how to balance the more fantastical aspects with a realistic military action. The mix of the eclectic works in a comic book or cartoon series, but as what fans seen, getting the right tone in live-action is much difficult, the big question, Is Martin Campbell the man that could do it? G.I. Joe 3 release date will be some time 2016.
