In Battlefield 5 news, the next installment after the Battlefield Hardline release date will return to the military theme of the franchise.
The Battlefield Hardline release date stays put, pegged for a March 2015 release. Though the next installment in the franchise was delayed due to development issues, EA Games has already hinted what fans should expect when Battlefield 5 launches in 2016.
Battlefield Hardline departs from the usual military theme of the series, where cops and robbers square off in an urban setting. The next installment is considered a breath of fresh air for the franchise, but Electronic Arts announces it will be loyal to core fans after that.
The news came from EA CFO Blake Jorgensen's comment at 2014's UBS Global Technology Conference. Jorgensen says he's already viewed the game and considers it a "fun, new, that will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game; more to come on that."
EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed the Battlefield 5 release date in 2016, which gives plenty of breathing space between Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline. The publisher also considered franchise fatigue a factor in the schedule.
Battlefield Hardline's release date has been pushed further from October this year, to invest more on development after the Beta release considered player feedback, also caused issues with the publisher.
Creative director Ian Milham comments in a September interview with IGN: "I mean we just want to make cool games and thats all we care about or want to do. And there is a whole universe of other stuff going on: What other things does EA have coming out? What other games are coming out?
Like this had nothing to do with release windows or competition or any of that kind of stuff. But those are things in the world. So of course there was a lot of 'Grr, well I don't know we got to figure this out, this is a pretty big deal are you sure?' But as we talked it out, it became pretty clear that it was the right thing to do, so they were onboard."
The latest Battlefield 5 news confirms what DICE hinted last month, that the next installment focuses less on narrative and more on destruction.
