Updates on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" cast: no word yet on Orlando Bloom's return, but "The Giver" star Brenton Thwaites has clinched a part.

Disney is taking its sweet time with "Pirates of the Caribbean 5," reportedly the last installment in the series. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are confirmed to reprise their roles, and the studio is also considering Orlando Bloom's return (to be confirmed).

"The Giver" star Brenton Thwaites is considered for a role in the new movie, though. Thwaites is a recent, familiar face, also starring in "Oculus." His most memorable role is Prince Phillip in this year's "Maleficent," also produced by Disney.

Thwaites is seriously being tapped to play Henry, a British soldier, in the movie. His role is reported to revolve around a vengeful ghost (Javier Bardiem is rumored for the part), and will assume a moralistic character opposite Jack Sparrow.

Thwaites' involvement in the installment affects reports Orlando Bloom will return. Bloom has confirmed talks of the same, though, in a previous interview.

"There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift." (yahoo.com)

"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is expected to start production in Australia next year, with a release date slated for July 7, 2017.

Part 3 ("At World's End) ended with a tie-up to the fourth installment ("On Stranger Tides"), but the latter didn't leave clues as to how "Dead Men Tell No Tales" will begin. Insiders insist there's enough room to squeeze in Orlando Bloom's character (screenrant.com).
