With the success of Broadway original, fans are now excited for news about the rumored "Wicked" film adaptation release date.

While there has been no concrete news about the said release, reports are saying that "Into the Woods" producer Marc Platt is on board to make the big screen version of "Wicked" happen.

However, Platt explained that the film adaptation will not happen soon. In an interview with ComingSoon.net, he said, "The movie of Wicked is still a number of years down the line... We've just started its development, because the show's still so strong with eight or nine companies around the world. That's coming in the future. That's why I haven't been in a hurry, because it works so well on stage and audiences are enjoying it."

Fans of the Broadway hit should also forget about seeing Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth reprise their roles as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. The two will not be part of the planned film adaptation.

Early this year, Idina Menzel shared with "Watch What Happens: Live" that though she is above ecstatic about the development of "Wicked" film adaptation, she and Kristin Chenoweth will not be part of the cast. She says, "I would die to be in [the movie], except I'm afraid Kristin and I... they told us we're a little over the age for that."

New "Wicked" film adaptation release date rumors suggest that two of the hottest stars of this generation will be joining the cast. Lea Michele of the "Glee" fame will reportedly play Elphaba, while "One Directioner" Harry Styles will take on the role of Fiyero.

As PerezHilton noted, Styles is on "top of the Wicked team's wish list to play the romantic lead of Fiyero. Moviemakers see him as a new Zac Efron and think he would be a perfect casting for a movie musical."
