The "Justice League: Dark" movie script is finished, with Guillermo Del Toro pegged to direct.

Plans for the "Justice League: Dark" movie is finally rolling, with a confirmed, completed script in the hands of Warner Bros. The project still has to be green-lit, but it's a progressive step ever since director Guillermo Del Toro confirmed a screenplay is in the works.

Del Toro offered a working title of "Dark Universe" for the movie based on DC characters, a team assembled to deal with the paranormal. Constantine is one of its more popular anti-heroes, currently adapted into a standalone TV series.

News of a Constantine TV series shot down hope of the "Justice League: Dark" movie being realized, but confirmation of the finished script, once approved, could get the ball rolling.

Production for the movie will likely start after Del Toro finishes initial commitments, though. With the "Pacific Rim 2" release date slated for 2017, cinemablend.com speculates "Dark Universe" will follow through on the DC Universe reboot.

"With 2020 being the end of the first line up of DC's newly rebooted continuum, it could be a safe assumption that their next wave of projects will include this hotly talked about project. Indeed, it makes sense to wait until Justice League is set up before anyone unleashes the darkness within them, and with the lead time ahead of any sort of official movement on Justice League Dark, there's plenty of time to seed in references leading to the Dark Universe endgame."

The recent success of "Guardians of the Galaxy" sets Marvel Studios up for out-of-the-box story arcs, venturing into characters farther into its universe. The "Justice League: Dark" movie could do the same for DC if it's approved, and will be an offhand complement to the "Justice League" assemble that's rumored in the works.
