James Cameron confirms the "Avatar 2" plot will leave audiences soiling themselves at the theaters.

News of the "Avatar 2" plot was secondary to Cameron's confirmation of breakthrough sequels, though. With credits to "Titanic" and "Alien" under his name, the director assures the next Avatar films will make audiences do a number two at the theaters (for lack of a better term).

Referring to Avatars 2, 3, and 4, Cameron comments: "I can tell you one thing about them. They're gonna be bitchin'. You will shit yourself with your mouth wide open." (empireonline.com)

In an industry that considers higher frame rates and resolutions better by default, Cameron is sticking to 48 fps in production (instead of 60).

"My thinking at the time was that 60 [FPS] might be a better segue to the video market. I'll be plugging into a system that's a little more mature, so it makes sense for me to do 48 frames at this point."

For the sequels, Cameron is delegating the scripts to a writing team involving reliable names in the industry: Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.

Cameron has earlier confirmed sequels were in the works, even hinting at how the new "Avatar 2" plot will unfold.

"We're doing 'Avatar' films now, so we're making up an ocean ecosystem for Pandora. That's gonna have less to do with the deep exploration that I've done than it has to do with my concerns about conservation of Earth's oceans. The fact that we're basically overfishing, climate change... a few degrees of temperature rise are gonna basically take out the coral reefs. All those beautiful images of the coral environments we all grew up with won't exist in 50 years at the rate we're going in terms of pumping greenhouse gases into the environment. These are the things that concern me." (screenrant.com)
