The "Suicide Squad" movie cast is confirmed, with an awesome ensemble of actors!
The "Suicide Squad" movie cast rumors are finally confirmed Tuesday, by Warner Bros. executive Greg Silverman.
It's an A-list lineup of characters for the DC adaptation, top-billed by Will Smith as Deadshot; other confirmed roles include Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and a wild card in Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
It looks like Warner Bros didn't hold anything back with the details; Jesse Eisenberg was also reported to play Lex Luthor, but his name wasn't included in the revealed cast.
Silverman's announcement was more than fans expected, also confirming David Ayer ("Fury") will direct.
"The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote 'Training Day' and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Cara.
We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer's amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."
Ayer will also pen the script for the adaptation, for a notable team of producers: Charles Roven of the last Batman trilogy, Richard Suckle of Oscar-winner "American Hustle," Zack and Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson, and Geoff Johns.
"Suicide Squad" release date is set for August 5, 2016; an adaptation of the DC Comic which started 1959, its preproduction starts February 2015, and filming between April to September (comingsoon.net).
DC takes a risk similar to "Guardians of the Galaxy," and the "Suicide Squad" movie cast is a solid powerhouse; a film about a team of super-villains is also a different tack from the trend of graphic novel adaptations.
