The "Community" season 6 premiere sees Chevy Chase reprising his role in a cameo, and possibly staying.
Yahoo! Screen will feature the "Community" season 6 premiere next year; the series has been picked up for a new run, with 13 episodes scheduled. A major confirmation for the series is Chevy Chase's return, after leaving the show in 2012.
Chase is a mainstay in the show; as Pierce Hawthorne, his character was a bit senile yet cuddly. The "Saturday Night Live" star quit the NBC show after mentioning the "N" word on set, after he immediately walked out.
Chase says he's confirmed for a small cameo at the "Community" season 6 premiere, and then he would see how the studio execs play it out from there.
"I will be in a small cameo at the beginning of Community and if they ask me to come back and do one or two appearances, it's a possibility."
It turned out the demands of filming the series took its toll on him, more than anyone expected. Chevy Chase is 71, and has plenty of credits under his belt, including a previously regular stint at "Saturday Night Live."
"It was very taxing, because we didn't get to move around a lot, and we would work 15, 16 hours a day sometimes, and right into early Sunday morning," he added of his frustrations to another fan. "So it was not easy work. I can tell ya."
"It's tough to cover eight people around a table without moving the camera, moving the camera, moving the lights, it takes FOREVER, and you have to do it over and over, and make it look fresh," he continued. "So if people realized that - it can be very taxing and very tough work."
"Community" season 6 premiere is a breakthrough for the show, which has been plagued with near-cancellations before it was dropped by NBC last May. The series gets a clean slate on Yahoo (usmagazine.com).
