Rumors run wild on who will make it to the "Transformers 5" cast, but "Age of Extinction" star Mark Wahlberg hints he'll be working with Michael Bay soon.
Mark Wahlberg barely leaked anything in a recent interview for "The Gambler," but he hinted that the fifth installment to the Transformers movie franchise comes right on the Paramount schedule of 2016 releases.
"I can't speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we'll be on the set soon." (mtv.com)
Wahlberg says he's also committed to a couple more Transformers films, which could mean Paramount has a few more installments up its sleeve before it wraps up the franchise.
It is reported Michael Bay isn't going to direct "Transformers 5," but will instead produce it. This news is yet to be confirmed, as Bay previously commented he may not direct "Transformers 4: Age of Extinction" as well.
News are wildly conflicted at the moment, especially in terms of the "Transformers 5" cast. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis' names also came up as replacements to Mark Wahlberg, who previously said he was stepping out on the next movie.
The wildest rumor in the "Transformers 5" cast so far involves a cross-over with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which, if it pushes through, would mean most of the leads are CGI instead of live actors.
The departure from live-action to CGI isn't farfetched, insiders insist. Optimus Prime flew into outer space at the end of "Transformers: Age of Extinction" in order to search for their creators. If the next film is set entirely in Cybertron, CGI makes sense.
Bay is apparently decided to hand over the director's vest to the next guy, when asked about where the Transformers story arc will lead to next.
"There's a lot that's unexplored, but that's for the next director to figure out. They're hard movies to do and it takes every day for two years. They're fun, but they're hard." (indiewire.com)
The "Transformers 5" release date is set June 24, 2016.
