Spelman College Suspends Cosby Chair For The Humanities Following Iconic Comedian's Recent Rape Allegations, Despite $20 Million Endowment From Bill And Camille Cosby
Bill Cosby was widely known for his charity and philanthropy projects. His notable contributions in education are still revered by Black colleges like Spellman College. However, the recent slew of accusations alleging sexual assault and rape from nearly 20 women are engulfing Cosby's career in a whirling tornado of accusations that have not gone away in the new year.
Camille and Bill Cosby have been endorsing education among the black community for a long time. Spellman's dismissal of Cosby from the Chair for the Humanities comes on the heels of the iconic comedian getting expelled from Temple University. According to published reports, Cosby's juniors presumably wrote his PhD thesis, another way of saying Dr. Huxtable plagiarized the equivalent of intellectual rape.
Earlier reports by TMZ said that Bill Cosby who contributed $20 million is still very much a part of Spellman. Later, the Washington Post reported that "the president's office would not say whether the endowed professorship named for Cosby and his wife would continue," the AtlantaDailyWorld shared.
Spelman's Cosby Endowed Prof. Aku Kadogo said, "I'm not worried about being the Cosby chair. It's not a worry to me. It's a difficult time for him. But it ain't the end of the world. If Hillary can run for president - she went through all that rigmarole. People forget easily."
Spelman also introduced the William and Camille Cosby Endowed Professorship Program at the all women's school and the $20 million came from Cosby almost 25 years ago.
