"Rambo: Last Blood" is confirmed to follow on the new Rocky movie, confirmed by Sylvester Stallone. With the trend of rebooted and overhauled movies, Stallone is following through on the heels of the "Terminator Genisys" and "Mad Max: Fury Road."

"Rambo: Last Blood" was rumored in the works as early as June; Sylvester Stallone confirmed the movie is currently in production in a tweet, as an afterthought. It's a busy year for Sly, with "Expendables 3" released, and new Rocky and Rambo movies in progress.

The working title for the new Rambo movie was a rumor until Sly dropped it in the tweet. The supposed plot was leaked 2009, and reading similar to the Byron Huggins novel "Hunter," according to Cinema Blend. Stallone will also work on the next Rocky movie "Creed."

Stallone talked about the new Rambo movie and his character, which covers as many audience preferences as possible:

"I'm getting ready for that. I'm starting to work out. I'm going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart. Smart, yet stupid. Tall, yet short. Broad, but thin. You know what I mean. We're going to try to cover all the boundaries."

Sly will star and direct "Rambo: Last Blood" and Creed. There's also a Rambo TV series in the works, with Stallone in talks for a creative role (not the lead).

Splendid Film reportedly bought the rights for the film: "With 'Rambo V' Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of 'No Country for Old Men.' Like the last film, 'Rambo V' is produced by Avi Lerner ('The Expendables 1-3')" (comingsoon.net)

"Rambo: Last Blood" and the Rambo TV series are both produced by Avi Lerner. "Rambo: Last Blood" release date is yet to be announced.
