New promotional art for "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" confirms the sequel happens in the direct aftermath of the first movie. While this is hardly surprising for fans of the franchise, the involvement of Ultron and Vision digs deeper in the "Avengers 2" story arc.
The "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" release date can't come soon enough; rumors, leaks, and confirmed details rolled out in the past few months. With Ultron confirmed the big baddie in part 2 and with a full teaser released to boot, there's still plenty of secrets to be revealed nonetheless.
New concept art places the events of "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" smack in the aftermath of the first movie, though. Cinema Blend reports the image posted on Reddit, of Ultron and Vision; Ultron is voiced by James Spader, and Vision by Paul Bettany. Details on Vision are scant, and are considered one of the few left of Marvel's secrets before the May 1, 2015 release date.
Ultron's concept art comes with the major reveal, the character's beginnings found in the wake of "The Avengers" Chitauri invasion:
"First discovered as a simple computer program hidden among the ruins of the Chitauri invasion of New York, the being known as Ultron soon completed its development into a sophisticated artificial intelligence after some experimentation by Tony Stark. Ultron's first shocking ultimatum upon gaining consciousness was to declare the human race its enemy.
Setting out to exterminate all life on the planet, the unstable and emotional Ultron seeks to upgrade its mechanical body to an ultimate, unstoppable form. With an army of robotic drones and the ability to enter and corrupt any computer network, Ultron will stop at nothing to see humanity wiped out."
Although Vision is a confirmed character in "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron," there's scant backstory of him in the upcoming movie. The details of the concept art spoils he's part of the good guys from the get-go, though:
"Programmed by the combined geniuses of Tony Stark & Bruce Banner and imparted with the ability to fly, project intense energy beams and change the density of his form, the Vision has proven himself a worthy hero, aiding the Avengers in their struggle against the evil A.I. Ultron."
It appears Marvel's Cinematic Universe is really leaving earth in its upcoming projects, with Ultron, Vision, and Dr. Strange setting the stage for otherworldly conflicts.
