‘Fifty Shades Of Grey” Cast Jamie Dornan Insists Movie Is More Than BDSM; Visited A Sex Dungeon To See What The Real Deal Looks Like! In Tell-All Interview Before Film’s Valentine’s Day Launch

"Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan insists the movie is beyond the controversy, although admittedly the story has elements of BDSM in it. The actor who plays Christian Grey said the film is a love story first and foremost, albeit quite a twisted one at that.

With the movie nearing its Valentine's Day release date, "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan dealt with the controversy in an interview for the February issue of Elle, which releases in time for the film's premiere. The plot is suggestive enough of an unlikely love affair, though; a dashing billionaire with a kinky secret meets a reserved literature major who apparently is sexually permissive. Dornan insists the movie is a love story first:

"The love story is more important than the BDSM aspect. I mean, we are going to tell a love story, you know, it can't just be what happens in the Red Room, that's not a film. There's so much more going on than that."

Audiences who've read the novels expect sex as the recurring theme of the movie, though Dornan has denied he had full-frontal scenes, and the film's rating was a bit tame by comparison. The actor said they intend to keep the audience hooked without grossing them out.

The actor did confess his research on BDSM went as far as visiting a sex dungeon:

"I went [to a sex dungeon], they offered me a beer, and they did ... whatever they were into. I saw a dominant with one of his two submissives. ... I was like: 'Come on guys I know I'm not paying for this but I am expecting a show.' It was an interesting evening. Then going back to my wife and newborn baby afterwards. ... I had a long shower before touching either of them. "

"Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan took modeling stints with Calvin Klein and Armani Exchange before he was confirmed as Christian Grey, and is set to take on a serial killer's role in upcoming BBC series "The Fall."
