‘Taken 4’ With Liam Neeson A Serious Possibility? Actor Willing To Go At It One More Time, Confirmed In Interview; ‘Taken 3’ A Box-Office Hit In Spite Of Critical Reviews; Will The Franchise Continue?

"Taken 4" with Liam Neeson is a real possibility, according to the actor, challenging the "Taken 3" tagline ("It Ends Here"). The actor enjoyed a good run with a trilogy of sorts for "Taken," with Forest Whitaker co-starring in the recent installment.

In an interview with Fox News, the possibility of "Taken 4" with Liam Neeson was confirmed, but only if the audience loved the characters enough. Reporter Ashley Dvorkin didn't hesitate to ask Neeson if "Taken 3" is indeed the last movie in the franchise:

"... because they say this is the last one, is it the last one? Is there any room for any more?"

Neeson's reply initially trailed off, hinting there's always room for a new installment. He did insist "Taken 4" will only be possible if the audience liked the last movie enough to demand a follow-up, though.

"There's always... I think if audiences go and see it and they like these characters, I mean, I'd love to do something with Forest again, and if it's in a 'Taken' 4 scenario... great."

"Taken 3" was released to rather lukewarm reviews, especially from critics who considered another installment is stretching a franchise which shouldn't have been in the first place. The movie was still a box-office success, though, raking in $92 million worldwide merely a week after its US release date. "Taken 4" reportedly cost $48 million to make (screenrant.com).

Liam Neeson said "Taken 4" is part of a long line of action stints the actor has received since part 1; he confessed he was very much surprised with the reception for "Taken," which bumped his street cred as an action star.

"What's the old expression? 'You know how to make God laugh? Tell him your plans,' said Neeson, quoting Woody Allen.

"You know, I was cruising along nicely. I was working constantly and little forays into theater every now and again and suddenly with the success of 'Taken' 1... took me very much by surprise. So Hollywood started sending me more action scripts which I'm thrilled to get the chance to do."
