Leaked Photo Of The ‘Jurassic World’ Hybrid Dinosaur A Letdown? Indominus Rex Not As Ferocious As Expected; Director Insists Hybrid Not A ‘Freakish Mutant'

The "Jurassic World" hybrid dinosaur was just leaked in a photo; spoiler alert: the Indominus Rex isn't the freak genetic experiment fans might expect.

Chris Pratt described the "Jurassic World" hybrid dinosaur best in the trailer; supposedly created with the combined characteristics of ferocious species, Pratt's character said "developing" the hybrid is "probably not a good idea."

How the hybrid dinosaur actually looked like remained a mystery, though, apart from subtle hints on the trailer. The previews of other species built up anticipation for a meaner, more ferocious hybrid, but director Colin Trevorrow was quick to dispel rumors it'll be a freakish mutant.

The hybrid was not deliberately shown in the trailer; Screen Rant assumes this helped build the anticipation, but also sets fans for disappointment, in case the actual thing doesn't meet expectations.

"The hybrid dinosaur was deliberately not shown in the trailer in order to build up hype for its reveal, but this is arguably not the best approach since too much build-up can lead to disappointment when the creature is eventually shown."

The leaked photo of the Indominus Rex practically jumped the gun, though. Spoiler alert: check out an image of the "Jurassic World" hybrid dinosaur here.

The features of the Indominus Rex look like combinations from the T-Rex and the Velociraptor; other dinosaurs are included in the photo, supposedly for comparison.

The leaked photo is apparently a letdown, not the mind-blowing creature anticipated. Screen Rant defends the rather tame concept for the hybrid, though:

"While some might argue that this hybrid dinosaur looks boring, it's actually cooler to see various traits incorporated in a subtle way; and what is really going to sell it is its personality and the way that it's used in the story. With those nasty hooked claws the Indominus Rex looks like an efficient killing machine, and its forelegs have more reach than a T-Rex's."

Fans get to see how the "Jurassic World" hybrid dinosaur fares when the movie comes out in theaters June 12.
