Anthony Mackie joins "Captain America 3" and a stellar ensemble.
Though the actor isn't keen on revealing details about "Civil War," he's still more than willing to fuel the hype. Mackie said the next Captain America movie will feel like an "Avengers 2" sequel.
There's no stopping Anthony Mackie in "Captain America 3"; he commented sparingly, but hinted the audience will see a Falcon very different from "Winter Soldier."
"Y'all gonna make me unleash the Falcon," Mackie said in a ComicBook report; it's assumed he's referring to a catchy line in the film, or an inside joke of sorts.
Mackie continued to fuel anticipation for "Civil War" by insisting it's going to be an "Avengers: Age of Ultron" sequel; at the very least, it will feel like it. It's understandable with a solid ensemble of returning characters in "Captain America 3," also with notable actors to credit.
"Cap 3 is gonna be everything you can imagine. Cap 2 was really Avengers 1.5 and Cap 3 is going to be Avengers 3.8," Mackie said.
"Captain America: Civil War" currently has a stellar cast confirmed, with Robert Downey, Jr. no less. So far, the credits include Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow and Daniel Brühl as a still-uconfirmed villain (cinemablend.com).
As if the movie isn't saturated enough with characters, there's still more to be announced in the future, with the movie release date set for May 6 next year.
There's still the lingering question of Anthony Mackie after "Captain America 3." Will Falcon inherit the shield and super-soldier serum?
Fans of the graphic novels are all-too-familiar with how "Civil War" turns out, and if ever the film adaptation follows through its story arc, then Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) and Falcon is groomed enough to take over.
