There's news of Emily Blunt in "The Huntsman," which is understandable considering the "Edge of Tomorrow" actress' role in "Into the Woods."
"Snow White and the Huntsman" somewhat received a bad rap when it screened 2012, but could a Kirsten-less sequel turn things around? There's talk of Emily Blunt in "The Huntsman," the follow-up supposedly revolving around Chris Hemsworth's character.
In spite of earlier reports Kristen Stewart will be reprising her role in "The Huntsman," the new movie will be a spin-off to the original instead of a direct follow-up. The title credits did scrap Stewart's part, and now a new villain will supposedly step in with an axe to grind.
"The Huntsman" release date is slated 2016, but is currently without a director: Frank Darabont stepped out, citing creative differences as reason. Universal is expected to decide on a director by next week, which could favor Gavin O'Connor or Andres Muschietti in the shortlist.
Charlize Theron's character is also expected to team up with a new villain, and recent news peg "Into the Woods" star Emily Blunt in the role of the vengeful Snow Queen. This could either be an exciting improvement in the story or a confusing rumor, since "The Huntsman" was previously reported a prequel to the 2012 film.
Emily Blunt's film credits come with a wide variety of roles, from "Looper" to "Edge of Tomorrow," also the musical "Into the Woods"; if her role in "The Huntsman" is confirmed, 2016 will see how she fares as the villain this time. There's also a running rumor she's pegged for a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If Emily Blunt is confirmed in "The Huntsman," the boost in her film credits would bump further with a part in the MCU; maybe alongside Chris Hemsworth, as Captain Marvel?
"The Huntsman" release date is confirmed April 22 next year (screenrant.com).
