Amazon Dash Button Shopping Brings One-Click Ordering System To Everyday Life! How Does It Work?

Amazon just made re-ordering products easier with the Dash Button that automates the whole process.

The electronic commerce giant said on March 31 that it's launching Dash Buttons, a follow-up to the Dash remote scanning device it launched in 2014.

Amazon is set to bring back its one-click ordering system to everyday life with the debut of the Amazon Dash Button, ABC News noted.

Each Dash Button that automates nearly the whole shopping process is tied to a specific household brand, including Tide detergent, Bounty paper towels or Huggies diapers. For instance, you can simply stick a Tide-branded button on your washing machine and it will automatically order more detergent through Amazon when you press it. Similarly, you can hook a Gillette Fusion button onto your bathroom cabinet so when you need more razor blades, you can press to order.

The buttons are battery-powered and connected to Wi-Fi to place orders, TechHive noted.

Users then use their Amazon app to set up their buttons and what they want to order (like what size of diapers, number of razors etc.) With that done, all they have to do is press the branded button for the product they want to have shipped.

In addition, each Dash Button reportedly comes with adhesive so it can be easily stuck in a convenient place. You need not worry about trigger-happy kids accidentally ordering 50 rolls of paper towels as the Dash Buttons reportedly only respond to a single click.

Amazon will then send a notice to the buyer's phone after a Dash alert has been activated. This makes it easy to cancel in case consumers want to change their orders. Although the Dash Button will be free to Amazon Prime Subscribers, it will reportedly be available on an invite-only basis.

According to Yahoo News reports, Amazon will select invitees based on ordering history, and they will be able to choose three buttons at a time. Moreover, if a user has an order history that comprises a product for which there is a button (there are 17 brands represented at launch), the e-commerce giant will ask if the user want to apply to get a button. While ordering, users can also order two additional buttons for other brands.

Amazon is also opening up its auto-ordering system called Dash Replenishment Service to connected-device makers, according to TechHive.

Early partners consist of Brother, whose connectors can order more ink when it runs low, and Brita, which sells connected water filler that not only measures water consumption but also orders replacement filters as needed. These services are slated to become available this fall.

The other brands reportedly on board at launch include WellPet pet food, L'Oréal Paris, Smartwater, Izze, Gatorade, Maxwell House coffee, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Lärabar, Gerber Formula, Huggies, Cottonelle, Clorox wipes, Glad, Olay, Gillette, Tide, and Bounty.
