In Bong Joon Ho's film "Snowpiercer" Go Ah Seung played Yona, a young woman who grew up in a frozen dystopian world but challenged the only order she ever knew.

The role of Yona in "Snowpiercer" was not an easy role for a 20-year-old to get into and Go said it was also a difficult one for her to leave behind. But once she did she was flooded with ongoing offers of drama and film offers, including her current drama "Heard It Through The Grapevine" and her upcoming film "Thinking of My Brother."

"I focused on 'Snowpiercer' for the past few years without thinking what I would do after it ended," she said in an April 2 interview with the Korean media outlet Joongang Daily. "It felt like a really tight rope was becoming loose. I started to think that I would try to take on many different characters rather than delve into one for a longer period of time because I felt so empty."

Fortunately she has recovered from that role and moved on to playing a variety of interesting characters. In 2014 she appeared in the film "Elegant Lies," which focused on bullying and teen suicide. She co-starred in that film with Kim Hee Ae and Kim Yoo Jung.

Go Ah Sung began her career as a child actress when she was 13 in a Bong Joon Ho film "The Host." The 22-year-old actress is currently playing a more adult role as Seo Bom, Lee Joon's young wife in "Heard It Through The Grapevine."

Despite the disadvantage she faces in the eyes of his powerful and pretentious family, Seo Bom holds her own. Seo Bom might seem like a simple character but beneath her sweet and humble manner, she has a quiet strength that Go Ah Seung is an expert at conveying. She's known for playing girls who stand up for what they want, as did her first character in "The Host."

The transition back to the faster-paced filming of dramas was not as difficult as she expected.

"I was worried about whether I could follow the faster production that usually comes with TV dramas because I've only done movies for the past few years," said Go in the Joongang Daily interview. "But, after I started working with director An Pan Seok, my concerns melted away. I felt like I was filming a movie more than any other pieces I've worked on."

Her next film, "Thinking of My Brother," is a Korean War-era film, co-starring Im Si Wan.

In "Thinking of My Brother" Go will play the leader of a children's choir. Im Si Wan, who last starred in the cable drama "Elegant Lies" and the film "The Attorney," plays a soldier who decides to help the choir. Lee Han, who worked on "Elegant Lies," will direct the film.
