The highly anticipated "Toy Story 4" movie is reportedly going to be a love story. Several reports claimed that the fourth movie in the Disney franchise will not be a direct sequel to the movie, but rather set to focus on Woody's love life.
Speaking to BBC, Pixar president Jim Morris confirmed that the forthcoming movie will not follow the adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear after Andy has left for college.
"It will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children," he said. "This movie isn't part of the trilogy. It's a separate story and I don't know if will be continued."
The website pointed out that when producers announced that a "Toy Story 4" movie was in the works, several fans were not happy with the idea. They believed that the franchise could have ended with the third film.
He added, "The decision to make a second or third [film] entirely depends on how passionate the director of the project is. Fortunately, our films are successful and we don't have to keep having to make sequels to make money."
Meanwhile, Venture Capital Post speculated that the fourth movie will have entirely new cast members, given the filmmakers' vision. As Morris pointed out, "Toy Story 4" will be an entirely different film from the trilogy, it would only make sense that Pixar would introduce new characters as romantic leads.
The official title for the movie has also yet to be confirmed, as some speculate that it would not be called "Toy Story 4" given how adamant Pixar is in saying that it is not a sequel.
"Toy Story 4" will be directed by Josh Cooley and John Lasseter and will be written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. The film airs in summer 2017.
