Though there is no official confirmation yet, it is speculated that the new Baywatch Movie will cast Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson. The movie version of the 1990s TV show "Baywatch," has hit headlines after news of the new cast spread, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
"The upcoming "Baywatch" movie will be nothing like the 1990s TV series about lifeguards," says the former teen idol, Zac Efron, who rose to fame in the Disney "High School Musical" franchise.
Although the movie is in preliminary stages, Efron said he was looking forward to it departing from the TV show that starred David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. The show about lifeguards featured dramatic rescues at sea.
"It's going to be R-rated and it's going to be bad***," Efron said about "Baywatch" the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Welcoming my dude @ZacEfron to #BAYWATCH, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tweeted. "Our movie will be big, fun and RATED R.. Like me when I drink."
He added, "It's BIG. Me and bud @ZacEfron been talkin' bout this one for a long time. And someone get my baby oil. #RatedR. Shirtless heaven and bikini dreams. And some good ol' fashioned ....RATED R humor."
Through his tweets, Johnson managed to drive home the point that it is going to be an R-rated comedy.
Zac Efron responded on Twitter saying, "So stoked brother - baby oil for 2 plz."
Efron is currently in negotiations to star in "Baywatch." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story centers on a by-the-book lifeguard (The Rock) who is forced to team with a young hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon. The film will be made at Paramount and directed by Seth Gordon.
