2016 is going to be an exciting year for those who would be ogling high-end cars, like Rollys Royces. According to CarandDriver.com, Rolls Royce will be introducing a swanky new "Dawn" which will be a convertible version of the Wraith Coupe.
In terms of outer skin, both cars will share only their doors and rear bumpers. The new convertible will be propelled by a 563-horsepower, 6.6-liter twin turbo V-12 engine, producing 575 pound-feet of torque, through an eight-speed transmission. It will have a top-speed of 155mph with a capacity of Zero-62mph in 4.9 seconds.
The new Dawn will be shorter than the Ghost but will be sleeker. Unlike other convertibles with two-door features, the new Rolls-Royce Dawn will have a spacious back seat. Such a feature specifies company's intention to foray later into the Asian markets after harnessing its potential in the US market. It also boasts of six-layers of material to deaden the cabin noise then the top is up. LATimes reported that the new convertible Rolls Royce Dawn will be as quiet as the Wraith hardtop.
BMW owned Rolls Royce has been hit by the slowdown in the market with its global sales dropping down 10 percent in the first 7 months of the year. Director of Design from Rolls Royce told Reuters that this 111 year old car brand will try to approach new customers, "who have already perceived a level of opulence and formality with Rolls Royce."
The company also set a new trend of launching the new Rolls Royce online rather than its tradition of launching a new car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new Rolls Royce Dawn draws its inspiration from Silver Dawn of 1950s designed by Park Ward, reported USA Today.
The car is 17.3 feet long, 6.4 feet wide and 4.9 feet high with a wheelbase of 10.2 feet.
