'NCIS' Season 13 Spoilers: Jethro Gibbs Undergoes Critical Surgery In Premiere After Being Shot In Finale

The latest "NCIS" season 13 spoilers suggest that the premiere episode will focus on Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) emotional journey to recovery. (Mark Harmon).

In the season 12 finale, viewers saw Gibbs in critical condition after being shot by The Calling's latest recruit, Luke. Showrunner Gary Glasberg shared that the premiere episode will take place immediately after the last episode.

Glasberg shared that following the incident, Gibbs will be rushed immediately to an aircraft carrier where he will be attended by the surgeon on the ship played by "Two and a Half Men" star Jon Cryer

"He goes through a really traumatic experience, that kind that changes someone," Glasberg told TV Line.

"Really, the whole first half of the [premiere] is this emotional roller coaster ride, of Gibbs' surgery."

Revealing more "NCIS" season 13 spoilers, Glasberg shared that fans will get to see a different side of Harmon's character in the coming episodes.

"You're going to see a physical change and an emotional change and Mark Harmon is really diving into that and making it unique," he told TV Fanatic.

"It's been exciting to watch and we've got some really emotional stuff coming up from him."

Glasberg added that Gibbs will also have a special connection with his doctor. Following what he went through, the agent will reportedly realize and appreciate the important things in life.

"The chemistry between Gibbs and his doctor, played by Jon Cryer, is a unique relationship and it's been fun to watch them connect and rely on each other," Glasberg said.

"Gibbs character literally has to step back and say 'How many more lives does this cat have?' It raises all kinds of questions and people are going to see some different and interesting shifts in Gibbs and he's going to open up a little more to people more, as well."
