The latest "NCIS" season 13 spoilers hinted that Tony DiNozzo may be killed in the premiere episode as Michael Weatherly was allegedly planning on leaving the CBS series.
When the series returns on Sept. 22, episode 1 will pick up right where the season 12 finale ended. Tony and Gibbs (Mark Harmon) are both in Iraq to track down the leader of The Calling. Before they get close, one of the group's new recruits shot Gibbs as Tony watched.
"Everyone is in flux because we're all worried about Gibbs and, ultimately, there are a lot of things that I can't even get into because it's a year of great turbulence and great drama," Michael Weatherly told Fox News.
Revealing further "NCIS" season 13 spoilers, Weatherly hinted that there will be a lot of old cast members who will be returning in the premiere.
"You have the return of a lot of the guest stars that are part of the 'NCIS' family, but there's also a new type of storytelling that [executive producer] Gary Glasberg is expanding on," he added.
"I think it's going to culminate in a very interesting season 13."
In other news, multiple reports claim that Michael Weatherly was thinking of leaving the show to focus on his new company, Solar Drive Productions. He is currently working for a "gritty" adaptation of the classic novel "Little Women."
It has long been rumored that he could be leaving the long running series to focus on his new craft. The actor, however, finally addressed the claims and said that he will be doing his best to juggle both.
"It remains to be seen if the series sells, but either way, Weatherly has no intentions of leaving his acting gig on 'NCIS' to exclusively be a producer," reported Fox. "He is grateful for his job on the military drama."
