Fans of Kim Hyun Joong delivered an outpouring of support for the embattled star, by generously gifting his unit with modern conveniences like washing machines, an air conditioner, and audio-visual equipment.
On October 16, the Korean outlet Xsports published a report describing items gifted to the military unit of the "Boys Over Flowers" star, which included an air conditioner and television.
The items were provided by the members of an online community who wanted to commemorate his service, while aiding his fellow troops. Xsports included a message from the group, in the article which fully detailed the types of items that were gifted.
"On May 12, 2015, our one and only star Kim Hyun Joong enlisted," said the statement provided by the fans. "It is 153 days (5 months) since he enlisted in the Republic of Korea 30th Army division."
Accordiing to Xsports, the items provided by his supporters included a wall-mounted air condition, a 46-inch LED television, two washing machines, four digital cameras, as well as, various types of audio visual equipment like speakers and amplifiers.
Also included were girl group posters to lift the morale of troops.
News regarding the fan club donation follow reports that the pop vocalist and actor has finally applied for leave from the military. While it is customary for enlisted military members to leave after 100 days, Kim has yet to take a break.
His enlistment has been marred by the on-going legal battle involving the former SS501 members and his ex-girlfriend. Legal representatives for both parties are expected to reconvene on October 30, as the paternity test results of his alleged child have yet to be revealed and the Hallyu star gears up for a defamation of character countersuit against his ex-lover.
