The upcoming Friday-Saturday drama of SBS, "The King: Eternal Monarch," revealed a new still cut of lead star Lee Min Ho joining in a rowing competition.
Penned by Kim Eun Sook, "The King: Eternal Monarch" is about two parallel universes, wherein one world Korea - a constitution being ruled by a Monarch - and the other one is the present day Korea as a Republic. Lee Min Ho portrays the character of Emperor Lee Gon, the third Korean emperor of his generation. The citizens know him as the perfect leader of their kingdom.
But despite having a perfect appearance, he hides a deep scar caused by a painful past. When he was still a young boy his father was killed before his eyes following a coup. On the present day, instead of doing his filial duty, he escapes the palace instead to attend gatherings at the university.
However, in one of his journeys, he witnessed himself being propelled into another world. There he meets a girl named Jung Tae Eul, portrayed by Kim Go Eun, who is an inspector that he will eventually work with hand in hand to take down criminals and also close the entry point between the opposite worlds.
Lee Min Ho plays a skillful character that has the dignity and bearing of a royal and the sensitivity and precision of a scientist. As seen in the boat race still cut, Lee Min Ho showed off his athleticism and his ability to work together in a team.
This particular scene was shot last November 2019 at a park located in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. He had to wear a sleeveless shirt for the role despite the fact that it was still early winter. The lead actor displayed his love for acting since he threw himself heart and soul into each take. Lee Min ho also did some push-ups between takes and practiced with his fellow boat racers in order to act the scene perfectly. The people present on set compared his vibe when rowing to the refreshing vibe of sports drink commercials.
Hwa and Dam Pictures, the production company of "The King: Eternal Monarch," expressed that Lee Min Ho has perfectly immersed himself in the diverse character of Emperor Lee Gon. You will be able to feel your heart as if it was going to burst through the amazing acting of the handsome actor Lee Min Ho.
"The King: Eternal Monarch" is set to broadcast on April 17, 2020.
