Namgoong Min recalls his experience during his rookie days and his first time joining a historical K-drama.
After a decade since he starred in "Hur Jun, the Original Story," the award-winning actor returns, headlining a period drama for "My Dearest."
Ahead of the series' premiere, Namgoong Min appeared as a guest on tvN's variety show "You Quiz On The Block," hosted by Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho. One of the highlights during the interview was the 45-year-old star's comeback to historical K-dramas.
Namgoong Min Spills Unforgetable Experience Doing Historical Series
As mentioned, his first and last period series were in 2013, along with Park Jin Hee, Kim Joo Hyuk, and then child star Park Eun Bin.
After 10 years, he is doing his second sageuk with Ahn Eun Jin.
During the interview, Namgoong Min shared his undesirable experience back then.
Before becoming one of the most sought-after and respected Korean actors, Namgoong Min had a fair share of ups and downs in show business. He told hosts Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho about his earlier years in the industry.
Expressing his "overflowing" passion for acting, he endured bad experiences, including "unreasonable treatment on set."
Recalling an example, he shared, "While I was acting, a gust of wind blew and knocked over the lighting stand. It wasn't my fault, but it was a period when I felt humiliated," he said, and someone from the production blamed him for it.
"That was the time when I had to say, 'I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I'll do it again' loudly, and I was always the target," he added.
Years later, Namgoong Min has been receiving praise for his works, even being declared a daesang winner multiple of times.
