Song Joong Ki shared his experience filming his movie "Hopeless" and talked about the news regarding his appearance fee.

Before the film's release, the top star made headlines after his agency confirmed that he would join the cast of the noir film.

However, what grabbed the public's attention was Song Joong Ki's decision to appear with no guarantee, meaning he will not receive any talent fee for the movie.

At the time, reports mentioned that the actor believed in the quality and competitiveness of the film; hence, he decided to waive his appearance fee.

As the film gained overwhelming responses since its release in theaters, not to mention being invited to the Cannes Film Festival 2023, Song Joong Ki revealed a surprising update regarding this.

Song Joong Ki Receives Special Gift After Joining 'Hopeless'

In a report, Song Joong Ki spoke about the news regarding his appearance fee for "Hopeless." According to the actor, "it is no longer without guarantee."

He further explained that he received a surprise gift from the production company that handled "Hopeless."

"I received a watch as a gift from the production company's representative," he said, adding that he was "embarrassed" because, at the time, several articles mentioned that he appeared in "Hopeless" without guarantee.

"But that's because it wasn't important at all," he continued, adding, "I received a watch a few days ago at a dinner with the production company's representative. So, that's why."

This is not the first time that the South Korean top star has made headlines for his decision to waive his talent fee.

Back in 2016, Song Joong Ki donated his appearance fee when he guested "Hurry Up, Brother." It is a Chinese version of SBS's longtime running show "Running Man."

After his comeback in K-dramas in 2022, Song Joong Ki is still active on the big screen.

In the noir movie "Hopeless," viewers will get to see more of the actor in theaters after joining the much-awaited film "Bogotá: City of the Lost," which he did at the height of the pandemic.

In addition, Song Joong Ki Laos headlines the upcoming film "My Name Is Loh Kiwan," a romance film based on a novel. He will work alongside Choi Sung Eun and reunite for the third time with Jo Han Chul.

It can be recalled that they both worked together in "Vincenzo" and "Reborn Rich."

Song Joong Ki's new movie will premiere sometime in 2024.
