South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo, known for her Netflix drama The Glory, has recently come under the spotlight for her shocking weight loss of 17 kg from an extreme diet.

The change of appearance was necessary to play the character Moon Dong-eun, whose life has been shattered by school violence.

To get into the role, Song Hye Kyo went on a severe diet focusing on konjac rice, which has a low-calorie level but very filling properties.

The actress required two months to get herself ready to act; she wanted to look very thin to show how traumatized the character had been.

Konjac rice is quite helpful for losing weight but should also be used with caution as it can cause damage to the stomach and a lack of nutrition. Song Hye Kyo, however, had been through an extreme diet in the past as well.

Before, she had also lost 17 kg by eating only tofu, or two meals daily, breakfast and lunch, while cutting off dinner. The tofu was only stirred but boiled and had a pinch of salt for taste. Moreover, she ate smaller portions, using only 80% of the amount she was supposed to eat.

On the other hand, Song Hye Kyo did not exercise at the time of the previous diet, nor did she do it this time. She had picked up the habit of walking, which helped her follow that strict diet.

The actress walks her pet dog so regularly that they say, "The dog gets tired of walking before she does.". She has gone on such walks for hours, sometimes up to four hours, because she wants to stay thin.
