Last year, the singer received a social media ban that lasted longer than those of other celebs who also went to the event.

The 32-year-old actress — best known for the TV series Palace II (2012) and Story of Yanxi Palace (2018) — was one of a number of high-profile attendees of the show, which saw Lisa become the first K-Pop star to perform in the iconic, nude performance space.

While the new appearance was supported by many fans of Lisa's public photos, the public posting of Zhang's photos themselves got suspended from Weibo and Douyin — the Chinese version of TikTok.

The burlesque is sexually explicit, so any performance of that type is classified as indecent by the Chinese government, which bans celebrities from attending or promoting indecent shows.

Zhang was not alone in this—Angelababy also attended the show and received a three-month suspension from Showbiz. Zhang's accounts stopped displaying her suspension messages following the end of her ban on Nov. 1.

The incident illustrates China's tough regulation of public performances and the consequences celebrities face for interacting with banned content.
