Actor Lee Min Ho became the new face of the biggest Internet site, Taobao.
Lee Min Ho's agency said in an interview, "Lee Min Ho was selected as the new model of Taobao. He is the first non Chinese person to be selected to represent the brand." The person added, "When he filmed the commercial for Taobao in Gongzhou, China, this Sunday, over five thousand people were gathered to see Lee Min Ho, surprising everybody."
Taobao is an open market operated by Alibaba Group. Taobao makes over 800 million dollars in sales for an average day, and last year accumulated a record of over 160 billion dollars for the year. Taobao has over 80% market share in Chinese online market, and is the the highest revenue yielding business in the world.
A staff member from mobile Taobao explained the reason why Lee Min Ho was selected as a model who will represent the brand in the future. "Trust and consensus with the consumers are the most important virtues in the electronics market. To show these virtues, we selected the Korean actor Lee Min Ho, who is currently making a syndrome in China."
The staff member who was involved in the filming of Lee Min Ho's commercial for Taobao said, "It seemed as if every citizen of Gongzhou was gathered to see Lee Min Ho. Although we hired almost two hundred guards to limit the access to the filming scene, the fans were waiting for Lee Min Ho even until we finished filming."
In related news, Lee Min Ho finished filming the Taobao commercial and went to Beijing to attend the Chinese national TV's (CCTV) Chinese New Year special program "Choon Ji Ae Wan Hui (Choon Wan)"
