Kim Yoo Jung is still young but she's already a star.
At 14, the actress is one of the best-known child actresses in Korea. She played the young Han Ga In in "The Moon Embracing The Sun," the young Han Ji Hye in "May Queen" and the young Uee in "Golden Rainbow." And she played T.O.P.'s little sister in the film "The Commitment."
What else can a girl hope to accomplish before she is 15?
Her next step is Hollywood where she will play the leading role in a short film.
According to her agency Sidus HQ, "Kim Yoo Jung will star in the American short film 'Room 731' and work with famous actors and staff."
The film is a USC graduate thesis project by Kim Young Min and will be produced by YTK Productions.
The horror mystery is set in an abandoned hospital in Unit 731 a camp used to intern Japanese-Americans during World War II. Mystery surrounds the events that took place in the hospital and the film hints at torture and unauthorized medical experimentation.
Kim Yoo Jung plays 15-year-old Wei. The girl wakes up in one of the hospital's barred rooms and meets Dr. Ken, played by Tim Kang, who appears in the American television series, "The Mentalist." Wei also sees a ghostly young woman who seems to want to help her.
At first Wei does know where she is but when she realizes that she is in the internment camp hospital, she has to figure out what brought her there. And who is the ghostly young woman?
Although it is meant to be an entertaining horror mystery film, the project's producers hope to shed some light on the events that took place in real-life Japanese internment camps. The filmmakers are currently raising some of their production costs on the fundraising site www.indigogo.com, but they already have the support of several enthusiastic Hollywood professionals.
The professionals include Diana Choi who worked as a special effects makeup artist for "The Dark Knight" and "Avatar," production designer Eddie Yang, who worked on "The Fantastic Four" and "Men In Black," Vanessa Mi Kyung Lee, who created costumes for "The Hunger Games" and editor Jimmy Gadd, who worked on "The Mentalist."
The film is due to be released in the U.S. in July.
Kim Yoo Jung can also be seen soon in the Korean film "Elegant Lies," which is due to premiere in March.
