Because of the success of the runaway hit drama "You Who Came From The Stars," Kim Soo Hyun is getting offers that range from films to dramas to commercials. And many of those offers are coming from China where he is very popular. So far the star has accepted the offer to serve as the model for Hyundai Motors in China and together with his co-star Jun Ji Hyun will also represent Samsung Electronics in China.
Eager fans surround the 26-year-old actor wherever he goes in China.
Yang Geun Hwan, the president of Kim Soo Hyun's agency KeyEast Entertainment said that the love fans felt for the actor was very obvious when he showed up for fan meetings and when he arrived to film the Chinese television program "Super Brain."
"We were able to experience firsthand how much love Kim Soo Hyun and "You Who Came From The Stars" is receiving in China when we spent the day there," said Yang.
Now Kim Soo Hyun has been offered a leading role in a remake of the 1991 film "Once A Thief." So far the actors being sought for this film include popular stars Michelle Chen and Huang Xiao Ming. The original version of the Hong Kong crime film starred Chow Yun Fat, Leslie Chung and Cherie Chung as orphans adopted by a crime boss and eventually the players in an ill-fated love triangle. John Woo directed the film.
Key East says that Kim Soo Hyun has gotten the offer but has yet to respond to it.
"It's true that there has been an offer but we haven't decided on anything yet. There have been many offers in Korea and China but we can't say anything for sure right now."
The agency cautions fans not to believe every rumor they hear. Kim Soo Hyun reportedly signed on for several other projects but those rumors turned out to be false.
The actor will not make any decisions until he completes his tour of fan meetings. So far he has been to Thailand, Taiwan and Shanghai. The tour will continue in Guang Zhou, Beijing, Indonesia and Singapore.
Kim Soo Hyun was already popular in China because of his appearances in the dramas "Dream High" and "The Moon Embraces The Sun," as well as the films "Secretly Greatly" and "The Thieves."
