The "Terminator 5" cast has a new addition as they ink a deal with 31-year old British actor Matt Smith will be appearing in the franchise's fifth installment. The "Doctor Who" star will be joining Arnold Schwazenegger, Jason Clarke, Jai Courntey, Aaron V. Williamson, and Sandrine Holt, among others, for the film's 2015 release under Paramount Pictures but he remains tight-lipped about the role.
Matt Smith, whose other credentials include "Moses Jones" and "The Street," spoke for the first time about the movie at the Wizard World Comic-Con in Minneapolis.
The "Doctor Who" actor spoke about being a part of "Terminator 5" cast and of the film, which he implied was a big part of his childhood.
"Anyone our sort of age has an affection for those films," Smith said. "It's like my childhood seeing Arnold [Schwarzenegger] throw people from trucks. What's not to like about that?"
Matt Smith began his acting career in 2003, mostly doing stage productions in London. His most notable role came in 2010, as the Eleventh Doctor in the Science-Fiction drama "Doctor Who," wherein he won two Best Actor honors at the SFX Award and two Male Outstanding Drama Performance honors at the National Television awards.
Being part of the "Terminator 5" cast is Matt Smith's biggest break in his acting career so far, and this is something he is fully aware of. But the young actor seems to be unfazed about this big development as he expressed his excitement about it.
"I'm very excited to be a part of the Terminator franchise because those movies - those first two movies particularly - were brilliant. It's very exciting," Smith added.
Matt Smith's role as part of the "Terminator 5" cast has yet to be revealed, although hints were dropped about him playing a "major role" with a "strong connection" to the character of John Connor, Sarah Connor's son.
Even Smith himself kept mum about his specific role in the film when he was asked about it.
"Thing is, I've been implanted with a chip where if I talk about it, my head explodes," he jokingly replied.
