IU is the latest star is who is considering a role in the latest drama from the writer of “My Love From The Stars,” “The Producers.” On February 2, a representative for KBS acknowledged that K-pop vocalist IU was in talks for a role in the upcoming drama.
According to a report in the Korean publication Star News, the representative said, “It is true that IU is in talks to be the female lead in ‘Producers’ but she has not confirmed her appearance. The only confirmed star is Cha Tae Hyun.”
38-year-old actor Cha Tae Hyun has been confirmed for the series.
Kim Soo Hyun was previously announced as a possible star for the drama, which is set at a television station. If both stars decide to join the series, it would be one of their first on-screen projects since the 2011 KBS2 musical series “Dream High.”
Kim Pil Sook, an aspiring K-pop vocalist who struggled with weight problems, served as the breakout K-Drama role for IU. She followed the success of “Dream High” by portraying the title role of Lee Soo Shin in the 2013 KBS2 series, “You’re the Best, Lee Soo Shin.” IU followed with her role in the drama “Pretty Man” and her successful album “Modern Times.”
Kim Soo Hyun has yet to confirm or deny his acceptance of a role in “Producer.” If he joins the project, it would be his first Korean drama since he was catapulted into pan-Asian success as Do Min Joon in the 2014 drama “My Love From The Stars.”
“Producer” is a project from “1 Days 2 Nights” producer Seo Soo Min. The script writer Park Ji Eun, is responsible for “Queen of Reversals,” in addition to “My Love From The Stars.”
