A recent report published by the Korean outlet ize compared the acting skills of several acting idols including Park Hyung Sik of ZE:A, BtoB's Yook Sungjae, and D.O. of EXO.
Park is praised for his performance as Yoo Chang Soo, a tempestuous heir who has fallen in love with part-time worker Lee Ji Yi (Lim Ji Yeon). He has been depicted as the baby soldier in the variety show, "Real Men" and continued this youthful image through his role as Jo Myung Soo in "The Heirs" and as Cha Dal Bong in the KBS2 family drama, "What Happens to My Family?"
The article published by ize examines the past roles of the ZE:A member while comparing them to his current portrayal of Chang Soo. "In 'High Society,' Park Hyun Sik shows the character of an ambitious tycoon heir," said the writer for ize. "The character is following his heart to the woman he loves, rather than pursuing marriage for household gain."
"High Society" also features strong acting from Uee of After School, in one of her best roles, to date. She has shown maturity in her emotional range since her recent turn as Do Do Hee in "Ho Goo's Love."
INFINITE's Hoya has returned to the complexity he first exhibited in "Reply 1997" for Byeon Ji Hyeok in "Mask."
As her profile as an acting idol continues to rise, AOA's Seolhyun has drawn comparisons to Suzy of Miss A. Like Suzy, she is evolving into a sought-after actress for the next generation. As Baek Ma Ri in "Orange Marmalade," she has demonstrated her ability to act in teen dramas and to seamlessly transition into Joseon period or historical roles.
L (Kim Myung Soo) of INFINITE is also exhibiting strength in his acting, through his appearance as an intern in "The Time We Were Not in Love."
The writer for ize also provided insight into the acting of BtoB's Yook Sungjae and EXO's D.O. Yook gained increased attention for his portrayal of Gong Tae Kwang in "Who Are You: School 2015." While it was only a cameo role, D.O. of EXO has continued to receive praise for his recent appearance in "I Remember You," as a coldblooded sociopath. "D.O. appeared as the vision [personality] of Jo In Sung in 'It's Okay, That's Love," said the writer. "It was a decisive entrance."
Who is your favorite acting idol, that is currently starring or recently delivered a cameo, in a K-Drama?
