Following Joel Embiid second right foot injury, the Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly ready to trade him for Charlotte Hornets' Cody Zeller and two future draft picks.
"Ever since the Philadelphia 76ers drafted center Joel Embiid, he's been a bit of a hassle," said Josh Wilson of Fansided.
When the Sixers drafted Embiid, they were already aware of his injury. The team, however, thought that he will be well enough to play for the next season. Although they knew that the player's injured foot will cause them trouble, they were reportedly unaware that the impact would last this long.
Embiid is expected to miss the 2015-16 season. Following his latest surgery last week, the earliest he could play will be in 14 months.
"They want to see him return around October. Not this October but the next October for that season," reported Philadelphia Inquirer.
"He may not even return for the start of the season. He may miss a couple of games, but that's their goal."
The publication noted that the Philadelphia 76ers still believed that they made the right investment on Joel Embiid. Although he has yet to play a single game in the NBA, it was said that still have faith in the athlete. They pointed out that he was the No. 3 pick in the 2015 draft.
"Right now, the Sixers believe he's going to be their long-term superstar. At least, that's what they still hope."
On the other hand, Yibada pointed out that Philadelphia 76ers could trade Joel Embiid to Charlotte Hornets' Cody Zeller. It was said that the former could benefit from adding a younger player to their roster, with Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel.
Meanwhile, once Embiid recovers from his injury, he could reportedly partner with Al Jefferson and return to his power forward position.
