The latest NBA trade rumors suggest that the Phoenix Suns are determined to trade Markieff Morris before the next season.
Although none of the teams have expressed interest on Morris, Sports World Report pointed out that the New York Knicks could take him in, trading Carmelo Anthony in the process.
"Anthony is a super star and if surrounded by talent he can truly lead an NBA team," the report said.
"On the other hand, he is 31 and signed to a contract worth $124 million while beginning the downward slope of his career."
Although the power forward averaged 24.2 points, the team was reportedly worried about the implications of his major knee surgery.
The New York Knicks will not be trading the player soon, given the no-trade clause in his contract. Rumors, however, suggest that if the team will continue to struggle the coming season, Carmelo Anthony may just suggest the trade himself.
Markieff Morris was recently fined by the NBA for $10,000 after making public comments that he wanted to be traded, reported Gospel Herald. The sanction, however, does not seem to concern the athlete one bit.
The outlet noted that Morris retweeted a post which said, "I don't accept apologies, you did what made you happy at the expense of my emotions and I understand but I won't respect it."
In spite of Morris' demands, it seems like the Phoenix will not be willing to trade him anytime soon.
"It is difficult for the Phoenix Suns to trade off Morris especially now that they are heading into training camp and the organization needs Morris at his current position," Jomar Endriga of Gospel Herald added.
"Despite the rift, Morris has a solid contract and good statistics, meaning the Suns would probably not be getting the same value back if a trade is made."
