Japanese fans voted for the "Hallyu 10th Anniversary Awards", which recognizes artists who contributed to the Korean Hallyu Wave. Bae Yong Joon, Kim Hyun Joon and Yoon Eun Hye received major awards.
Bae Yong Joon, who is best known for his role in the drama "Winter Sonata", received the most prestigious "Daesang" award. He also received the "Best Actor Daesang" for the Korean drama category, proving just how popular he is in Japan.
"It is very meaningful that I was able to share it with my fellow actors," said Bae, who is also a cultural ambassador between Japan and Korea. "It is because of them that the future of Hallyu is bright."
Yoon Eun Hye, who is currently starring in the drama "Future's Choice," took the "Best Actress Daesang" award, and she said, "It is truly an honor to be able to receive this."
Kim Hyun Joong, although known for his roles in the dramas "Boys Over Flowers" and "Playful Kiss," is originally an idol-singer, and he received recognition as the "Best Male Solo Artist" award for this ceremony.
"I will work harder to contribute to the Hallyu wave through my singing, dancing and acting," said Kim Hyun Joong.
Meanwhile, TVXQ and KARA received the "Favorite Male Group" and "Favorite Female Group", respectively, and IU received the "Best Female Solo Artist" award.
