"Smugglers," which stars Jo In Sung, Kim Hye Soo, Yum Jung Ah, and more, scores an achievement after officially hitting theaters.
Released on July 26, the action comedy film is among the most highly anticipated movies of the second half of the year.
'Smugglers' Tops the Korean Box Office
Interestingly, "Smugglers" never fails to amaze viewers by delivering a satisfying story.
According to a media outlet, "Smugglers" is currently topping the Korean box office.
For two days in a row, the action crime film has mobilized 189,510 moviegoers nationwide, for a total of 548,782 viewers since it made its debut.
As mentioned by the Korea Film Promotion Commission, Kim Hye Soo, Yum Jung Ah, and Jo In Sung's movie garnered more than 300,000 daily viewers on its premiere and more than 180,000 audiences on its second day.

In addition, it is expected that "Smugglers" will continue dominating the box office as the weekend approaches.
It was after the movie recorded a reservation rate of 35.3 percent its first weekend, proving that it is currently the most talked-about film in theaters.
On the other hand, Ma Dong Seok's movie "The Roundup: No Way Out" holds the title of the first Korean Film of 2023 to reach 5 million moviegoers since its debut.
To recall, the cast and team behind the movie expressed their gratitude to fans after the sequel reached past 10 million moviegoers in just one month from its release.
Why 'Smugglers' is Worth the Watch?
Joining the race for the hottest movie this season, "Smugglers" is directed by Ryoo Seung Wan of "Veteran," and the award-winning film "Escape from Mogadishu."
Set in the 1970s, the story focuses on two female divers who got involved in a smuggling scheme.
Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah play Jo Chun Ja and Eom Jin Suk, the divers of a once peaceful village by the sea, who find themselves in a high-stakes smuggling ring.
Joining the duo as lead star is Jo In Sung, who plays Sergeant Kwon, the national smuggling kingpin.
On the other hand, Park Jung Min plays the youngest deep-sea diver, Jang Do Ri, who also became a part of the illegal scheme.
Adding to the list of cast members is Jo Min Si as Madam Go Ok Bun. A restaurant owner by day and a tipster at night.
In a report, Yum Jung Ah expressed how honored she is to be part of "Smugglers" and act alongside Kim Hye Soo, with whom she has worked before.
"I had the opportunity to work with Kim a very long time ago-27 years ago, in a drama-but through 'Smugglers,' we have become good friends," she revealed.
The cast also mentioned that they trained for months before doing the underwater scenes. As for Yum Jung Ah, it was a challenge for her since she is not used to water activities or even swimming.
