Kang Dong Won Talks About Dealing With Intense Nightmares After Filming THIS Physchological Movie

Kang Dong Won talked about the aftereffects of filming the 2006 movie "Maundy Thursday."

During his recent guest appearance on the tvN variety show "You Quiz on the Block," the award-winning star mentioned one of his most memorable films and recalled his experience filming it.

Making his debut in 2004, one of his initial projects on the big screen was the psychological movie "Maundy Thursday," a novel-based film directed by Song Hae Sung of "The Good Man."

Joining him as the lead star is Lee Na Young, who played as a suicidal woman named Moon Yu Jung.

As for Kang Dong Won, he took on the role of Jung Yoon Soo, a murderer who was imprisoned because of his crimes.

According to the actor, he experienced intense nightmares after filming the movie.

"Nightmares began," Kang Dong Won told host Yoo Jae Sook, adding, "Every day, I had a dream that I was being taken to be executed. I'd wake up crying, thinking what I should have done better when acting for the movie."

The 42-year-old star also recalled experiencing heavy feelings as if he was "down the path of those emotions."

Kang Dong Won shared his realizations and said that he should consider seeking "psychiatric counseling at that time" to help him deal with emotions that he had while doing the movie.

"Maundy Thursday" is more than just a psychological-romance film since the movie's premise is all about depression and suicide.

Moreover, Kang Dong Won's character is a convicted murderer waiting for his execution.

How Kang Dong Won Chooses His Next Project

Apart from being recognized as one of Hallyu's most versatile stars, Kang Dong Won has a slew of hit K-dramas and movies under his belt. In addition, he also has an interesting filmography.

Host Yoo Jae Sook even joked about how Kang Dong Won doesn't have haters.

"They say no one dislikes Kang Dong Won," he said, to which the actor responded, "There are, on the internet," but Jo Se Ho chimed in and said, "Intermittently, one or two."

On the other hand, when it comes to choosing his next project, the 42-year-old star explained that he would pay attention to the "completeness" of the story.

"Whether the storyline is well-structured, if the material is fresh, and if we can meet the break-even point," Kang Dong Won furthered.

That is mainly the reason why he has several recognitions and achievements as an actor.

He is a three-time Best Actor nominee at the Baeksang Arts Awards, as well as the Blue Dragon Film Awards and more. Among his first acting award was at the 22nd MBC Drama Awards for Best New Actor for his role in "Something About 1%."
