The actor, whose real name is Wang Ta Lu, was reportedly taken into custody on the morning of February 18 at his home and released on bail later that day.

The 33-year-old actor is suspected of having spent TWD 1 million (approx. USD 30,525) to falsify medical records, claiming he had a heart condition, allowing him to defer mandatory military service.

Twelve people are being questioned in a case investigating the illegal circumvention of mandatory military service.

The investigation found that 80 potential recruits who sought deferral between 2020 and 2024 used false medical exemption claims and did not provide an appropriate medical history.

Male citizens between the ages of 18 and 36 in Taiwan are obligated to complete one year of military service.

Now, deferred enlistment is capped at age 33, and Wang's enlistment date was slated for March 13.

In December 2022, President Tsai Ing-Wen announced that the duration of compulsory service would be increased from four months to one year in 2024.

Those convicted of draft evasion may be imprisoned for up to five years.

Reps for Wang have yet to respond to claims. While investigators have yet to ascertain whether the illegal family constitutes an organized structure or the influence of such a family on Taiwan's military service system, both have been undeniably evident.
