Oh Jung Se currently plays the oldest of the "Nine Plus Boys" but he also played Yoon Eun Hye's brother in "Future's Choice" and Park Yoochun's detective friend in "Missing You."
He's primarily a film actor but in the last year he has had no less than five drama roles, including appearances in "miss Korea" and "A New Leaf." Here's what you should know about Oh Jung Se:
1. Despite his successful career, Oh Jung Se did not originally study acting. He was a mass communications major at Sun Moon University. His first acting roles were in the theater.
2. He must not listen to k-pop a lot because when he started working with Park Yoochun in "Missing You," he said that he did not even know that Park, a member of JYJ, was a singer.
In an interview with OBS Plus he said that "Initially I didn't know he was a singer. I had no prejudice against him and although I didn't know, he's a really good friend as an actor."
3. Park Yoochun did not hold Oh Jung Se's lack of JYJ fandom against him.
"I can definitely say that I′m the perfect match with Oh Jung Se. I like him so much that even when I just look at him I burst out laughing and when our eyes meet we can tell what the other is thinking," Park said at a Japanese press conference for "Missing You."
4. Despite Oh Jung Se's lack of k-pop knowledge he does have musical credentials. Oh Jung Se did a cameo in Kim Hyun Joong's 2011 music video for "Lucky Guy." Kim Hyun Joong is a bad boy in the video. Oh Jung Se plays a gambler who loses his gold watch to the actor-singer just before the police take him away.
5. Oh Jung Se has done more than three-dozen films in his 13-year career, playing everything from melodrama to comedy. One of the comic roles he is best known for is playing a top Hallyu star in the comedy "How To Use Guys With Secret Tips." His female co-star in that drama was Lee Si Young. Most of Oh Jung Se's roles were supporting roles but every time he has taken the lead, he held his own. His success in "How To Use Guys With Secret Tips" led to his first leading role in the 2013 film "The Hero."
