On February 24, Girls’ Generation member Yoona will receive her bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts at Dongguk University.
In addition to her receiving her degree, the acting idol will be honored with a lifetime achievement award, as an outstanding member of her graduation class.
Other notable alumni of Dongguk University include Lee Seung Gi, Jun Ji Hyun, Kang Sora, Jo In Sung, and Hyun Bin.
Her collegiate career has been marked with other honors including a Prime Minister Award in 2010. She will graduate with along with 2,458 other students.
It took the busy star six years to complete her degree, due to her schedule, which included activities with Girls’ Generation and drama roles. In 2009, YoonA was accepted into Dongguk University through a specialized application process which considered due to her exceptional acting ability.
While her degree is concentrated in theater studies, the star has exhibited great potential as a television actress. Prior to her enrollment in college, she led the cast of the KBS1 weekday series “You Are My Destiny.” She portrayed Jang Sae Byuk, an enthusiastic milk-delivery woman who was an aspiring interior designer.
In 2012 she starred opposite Jang Geun Suk in the KBS2 drama “Love Rain.” She followed this performance with her portrayal of Nam Da Jung in the 2013 SBS drama “Prime Minister and I.”
The Hallyu star recently set her sights on television roles beyond Korean drama, aiming for the Chinese market. Yoona is currently filming the Chinese historical drama “God of War Zhao Yun.” She is the lead actress as Xiahou Qing Yiin for the epic series. “God of War Zhao Yun” which is based on the story of Zhao Zi Long, a legendary Chinese general. The drama will air on Hunan TV in the latter portion of 2015.
