Model-turned-actor Kim Young Kwang was involved in a minor car accident on October 4, while driving to the set of the drama "D-Day."
Scheduled filming on the JTBC drama was suspended for the day. While Kim did not suffer any major injuries he was advised to rest. But Kim decided that he wanted to return to the set and resume filming.
According to the Korean media outlet Naver TV, an unnamed associate of the actor's told the media that he participated in a shoot on October 5.
"We suggested that he rest but he insisted on continuing with the shoot. He participated in today's shoot. He will get treated after the shoot. He wasn't hurt badly."
Kim plays Doctor Lee Hae Sung in the drama "D-Day." Lee Hae Sung's personality was not teh best fit for the hospital where he worked. Not in ordinary situations anyway. But "D-Day" is a drama about what happens when a major earthquake hits Seoul. In the event of such a major emergency Lee is just the kind of doctor you want. His quick response and innovative thinking saves lives. The character's strong sense of ethics means he will do whatever it takes to save lives.
Given that he was so eager to get back to the set, Kim Young Kwang also has a strong work ethic and he has worked consistently for the last few years.
He began his career as a model, walking the runways of designers such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood before debuting as an actor in the 2008 drama "Worlds Within." But although he had roles in the dramas such as "My Fair Lady" and "Love Rain," it was not until the 2012 drama "Can We Get Married," that his star potential attracted attention.
He was on Joo Won's medical team in the 2013 drama "Good Doctor" and appeared in the 2014 drama "Plus Nine Boys" as a man who realized too late that he was in love with his longtime co-worker. He played the second lead in "PInocchio," starring Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk. He did not get the girl.
Kim made his big screen debut in 2012 with the film "Runway Cop." He also had a role in the 2014 film "Hot Young Bloods."
"D-Day" also stars Jung So Min and Ha Suk Jin.
